If a picture is worth a thousand words, then every picture tells a story - a story worth sharing, repeating, treasuring. Memorable photography doesn't just capture a moment in time; it catches a glimmer of life, the simple joy of a smile, a ray of sun dancing through a child's hair, the glow that emanates from the eyes of a bride on her wedding day. God is always working, and we, made in His image, are created to reflect His glory as we move down the shore of life. Downshoredrift Photography exists to catch these glimpses of life and preserve them to tell a story
~ your story.
From childhood play, to everyday lif,e and travel to faraway lands, I enjoy capturing the unique way that life presents itself as beauty and art in the common occurences and celebrations that we find ourselves in. Take a look. If you are interested in setting up a photo experience, email me at alancross@charter.net.
Children at Play
Children reflect the beauty of innocence and the joy of new beginnings. Watching them play, explore, create, and experience aspects of life for the first time reminds us of our own childhoods and the hopefulness that accompanies God's gift of life. They grow up fast, but when observed and photographed really experiencing life, pictures can be created that capture the essence of a child's playfulness, curiosity, wonder, and innocence. In the Montgomery, AL area, location photoshoots price at $110 and you will receive all of the digital pictures on disc (100-200) as well as a complimentary slide show of 15 edited pictures.
Glimmers of Life All Around Us
God's creation is full of both natural beauty and man-made wonders. As I have traveled, I have seen some amazing people, places, and things. Life is happening everywhere, but we often miss it because our eyes are not open. These pictures give you an idea of the beauty that I see as I go.
I use a Nikon d300s Digital SLR camera to do my work. I prefer location shots for children and like to use interaction with background and landscapes to form photo experiences. I find that candid shots are much better than posed pictures to capture life happening, but poses can be helpful as well.
It is often a good practice to bring a few changes of clothes for photography with children so that everything does not look exactly the same. Also, make sure to bring some snacks and their favorite drink. The session will last around an hour (maybe more).

Below, you will find regular updates on my photographic experiences and thoughts about the pictures that I take. There might even be a little poetry thrown in for good measure. I am also a Christian and a pastor, so photography has become a means for me to interact with people and worship God through observing and chronicling the beauty of His creation. Enjoy!
